The New South Wales government have completed work on Australia’s largest electric bus depot, aiming to convert 229 buses to Zero Emission Buses (ZEBs) by the end of 2028. This marks a major step toward sustainable public transport, with the entire fleet to be powered by 100% renewable energy. The depot, located in Brookvale, will be the first in the region to transition fully to electric buses. The project is expected to deliver significant environmental benefits, including cleaner air and reduced noise pollution, while supporting long-term sustainability goals.

Fredon was engaged by the client to deliver the ASP1 scope of works on the Ausgrid network, ensuring all activities met Ausgrid’s environmental rules and SER requirements. The project involved the installation of two HVC kiosks, fencing and retaining walls, 700 metres of trenching and conduit installation, and 1,500 metres of cable installation. Fredon also completed high-voltage electrical connections, terminations, joints, testing, and commissioning.

All works were undertaken at night to minimise disruption to the local community, with the management of local residents being a key priority throughout the project.

The team successfully completed this project in July 2025.
