A NSW Government initiative in partnership with UNSW, the Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre (SCH/MCCCC) project has delivered a brand-new, state-of-the-art paediatric health, medical research and education facility on the Randwick Hospitals Campus.

The project brings together healthcare, education and research environments under one roof, fostering accelerated medical discoveries, integrating clinical innovation with bedside care, and addressing the complex health needs of NSW’s growing population. This integrated approach also supports the development of a future-ready workforce, ensuring the facility meets both current and long-term paediatric healthcare demands.

Fredon was engaged to provide the complete electrical services for the project, including design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning. The works encompassed high-voltage ASP3 Level 3 installations and metering, main switchboards, earthing and distribution systems, and the implementation of electromagnetic shielding and harmonic filters.

Fredon also delivered comprehensive power and lighting systems, including consumer mains and submains, general power distribution, internal and external lighting, emergency and exit lighting, and advanced lighting control systems.

The project required specialised electrical solutions for body and cardiac protected areas, medical services panels, UPS and emergency backup generators, as well as lightning protection systems. Additionally, Fredon implemented messaging interfacing and hearing augmentation systems to ensure the facility meets the highest standards of paediatric care and operational efficiency.

Through this engagement, Fredon contributed to creating a safe, innovative, and future-ready healthcare environment for children and their families.

The project was successfully completed in late 2025, with the new Bilima Building at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick opening to the public in November 2025.
