We’re proud to share that Fredon Infrastructure NSW’s work at the Woronora Dam has been recognised at this year’s NECA NSW Excellence Awards with a Certificate of Commendation in the Industrial – Small Project category.
Delivered for Veolia, the project involved a comprehensive high-voltage electrical upgrade at the Woronora Filtration Plant – a critical asset that supplies up to 160 megalitres of treated water daily to communities south of the Georges River, including Sutherland, Engadine, and Bundeena.
Our team was engaged to manage the replacement of the existing 33kV switchgear, along with associated HV cabling, SCADA upgrades, earthing system improvements, and temporary generation to maintain site operations. Works were completed under a strict two-week outage window, requiring meticulous planning, stakeholder coordination, and precision execution to ensure uninterrupted service to the broader Sydney Water network.
Fredon also exceeded project expectations by implementing remote SCADA monitoring and a condition monitoring system that enhances long-term maintenance and operational capability for the client. These innovations improve asset reliability, reduce environmental risk, and offer future-proofing benefits that extend well beyond the original scope.
