This project included the design and construction of three new buildings, Theatre, Exhibition and Convention (combination of new and refurbished) and the revitalisation of the surrounding Public Domain. The project is bounded by Cockle Bay to the North, Harbour Street to the East, Hay Street to the South and Darling Drive to the West.

The new venues are capable of holding four concurrent events of up to 8,000, 2,500, 1,000 and 750 delegates, a total exhibition capacity of 40,000sqm, an external event deck of 5,000sqm, a premier red carpet theatre with a capacity of 8,000, a grand ballroom with space for 2,000 and 826 public car spaces.

Stowe/Fredon Joint Venture Pty Limited were contracted by Lendlease to carry out the design finalisation, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of the electrical, communications and AV systems. SFJV also has the maintenance contract for the AV systems.

Consistent with the needs of the operator, the plant and electrical supply was designed, selected and installed to deliver a high levels of reliability while also allowing for load growth of 10% and 20% spare capacity. New HV electrical connections to the grid were laid to meet the requirements of the precinct.

The nature of the AV systems in the precinct calls for specialised maintenance services. They represent an evolution in the extent and scale of integration with the IP systems. The digital based handling of AV allows unprecedented freedom and power for users of the facilities. SFJV’s specialised team, drawn from Fredon’s Technology division is ensuring that the maximum value is obtained from this cutting edge technology.

This project was featured in AV Magazine for the audiovisual professional in February 2017. You can read more about the project here.
