The National Electrical and Communications Association hosted their Excellence Awards in Canberra on the 9th of August, honouring outstanding achievement in the electrical industry. Fredon were proud to be acknowledged for 3 projects, receiving 3 awards on the night, a Certificate of Commendation and an award for our electrical apprentice Matthew Zeitlhofer.

ACT State Winner: Work Health & Safety Management System (Company)

Fredon’s HSEQ Coordinator for ACT, Ian Knox has been working with onsite teams to improve safety to the highest level. The entire ACT team have demonstrated a commitment to work health and safety and should be incredibly proud of this achievement.

ACT State Winner: Industrial Small – Canberra and Erindale College Generator Connection Facilities

Fredon received the NECA ACT Award for Industrial Small project for the supply and installation of new manual transfer and generator connection facilities at Canberra and Erindale Colleges. Both schools remained operational during the works, which were completed in short timeframes.

ACT State Winner: Commercial Small – CSIRO Data 61 Fitout, Electrical & Communications

The CSIRO Data 61 Electrical and Communications fitout was completed by Fredon in November 2018. Fredon were engaged to complete all demolition of the existing Data 61 floor space and complete the new electrical and communications upgrades as part of a whole fit-out.

Data 61 has a specific brand which was showcased throughout their office space in building details as well as in the light fittings which were customised specifically for Data 61.

Certificate of Commendation: National Library of Australia

The National Library of Australia project was completed in January 2018 and involved electrical and communication construction, reactive and planned maintenance, small works, facilities management, thermography and fibre works. Fredon were engaged directly by the National Library of Australia to upgrade the lighting in their theatre space, where we worked closely with the consultant to install a solution to meet the clients needs.

We installed colour changing LED extrusion behind timber panels on the sides of the theatre, and a set of 3 colour changing LED extrusions in the “wave ceiling”. The lights are controlled by a Dynalite based system, and controlled from the podium or the Bio box, providing user-friendly access to create a scene tailored to their requirements.
