Fredon QLD have been engaged to deliver the Electrical Main Works for the Domestic Terminal Building (DTB) Security Upgrade at Brisbane Airport. The project involves a significant reconfiguration of passenger screening, checked baggage screening, staff and goods screening, and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) facilities, alongside associated building works. This upgrade enhances threat detection capabilities and supports BAC’s strategic safety and operational objectives.

Fredon’s works include:

– Upgrading existing three-core 95mm² Cu/PLY/PVC 11kV reticulation essential and non-essential ring feeder cables from the Terminal Services Building (TSB) to DTB with new triplex 240mm² Cu/XLPE/PVC feed cables.

– Installation of cable terminations within TSB 11kV switchboard for upgraded reticulation feeder cables.

– Upgrading SUB D70 11kV switchboard panels, including new relays, lamps, selector switches, CTs, and cable terminations.

– Upgrading MV switchgear and DC supplies in DTB substations.

– Upgrading existing DTB oil-filled transformers from 1,000 kVA.

– Upgrading HV & LV CCS PLC systems within DTB substations.

The project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025.
