Kambri Precinct, Australian National University

Services: Installation, Engineering

Location: Canberra, ACT

Fredon delivered the Design and Construction of the Electrical and HVAC services to the new buildings on The Australian National University’s redeveloped Kambri campus in Canberra.

Key features of the revitalised campus include 2 Student Accommodation buildings, a Cultural and Event Centre, 4-level Student Services office building, 6-level Collaborative learning environment, 2-level Health and wellbeing centre and an underground car park.

Fredon provided value engineering in various areas:

  • 1000amp Busduct was installed in the car park to minimise the installation of sub mains. This design allowed for the provisions for future expansion of potential Electric Vehicle charging stations.
  • Due to a lack of space in the student accommodation buildings, an Apex wiring system was used to reduce the number of distribution boards on each floor
  • Installed TECTON LED track lighting to minimise the cabling in open ceiling spaces in buildings with cross-laminated timber.
  • Secondary pumps for each building removed (20 pumps removed). 3x CHW and 3x HHW pumps serve the whole precinct

The Kambri precinct was opened to the students and teachers in early 2019.
