The BioScience Renewal Project delivered flexible, world-class, state of the art facilities for researchers undertaking biomedical and environmental research at the University of New South Wales, reiterating their standing as a leading intensive research university in the Asia-Pacific region.

Multiplex engaged Fredon as the design and construct contractor for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the project. Fredon undertook design verification, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the electrical, ICT, audio visual and security services.

Stage 1 of the project commenced in November 2015 with the building delivering capacity for more than 450 staff and PhD students and another 200 undergraduate students. This grand contemporary design features training and staff facilities, flexible and specialised research laboratory spaces and equipment, as well as precinct loading dock, stores and utilities, and was completed in November 2017.

The second stage of the project is the D26 Bioscience Building. This building contains teaching and laboratory facilities and office-type workplaces across 8 floors. Stage 2 of the BioScience Renewal Project was designed to deliver refurbishments to the existing D26 Bioscience Building, including a full exterior facelift. The D26 Bioscience Building is connected to the atrium on the southern side of the building, established in 2017 as part of Stage 1. Stage 2 works commenced in August 2017 and completed in May 2019.
