The Wyndham Law Courts is the largest court complex outside Melbourne’s CBD and was delivered to meet the growing needs of the rapidly expanding Wyndham LGA. The new facility provides thirteen courtrooms, four hearing rooms, three mediation suites, and twenty-six day only holding cells, as well as a range of support services to accommodate Victoria’s justice system.

Lendlease engaged Fredon VIC to deliver the complete electrical and communications package for the project, working to stringent design, performance, and sustainability requirements.

The works comprised of:

• Main switchboards and electrical distribution systems
• HV and LV reticulation and submains
• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
• Distributed Antenna System (DAS)
• DALI lighting and lighting control systems
• EV charging stations
• Smart metering and monitoring systems
• Structured cabling and communications infrastructure
• Rooftop 160kW solar system
• Lightning protection and earthing systems

The project presented significant challenges in sequencing, coordination, and design integration. Fredon’s VIC Electrical team employed BIM modelling, advanced seismic design, and DALI lighting technology to ensure efficiency, safety, and long-term performance. Sustainability was a central focus, with the project targeting a 6 Star Green Star – Design & As Built rating supported through smart lighting, solar energy, and extensive waste reduction and recycling initiatives.

The Wyndham Law Courts was successfully delivered on time and within budget, providing a state-of-the-art justice facility that will support the region for decades to come.
