Waves Aquatic Centre in Baulkham Hills has served its local community for over 50 years. With ageing facilities, The Hills Shire Council had taken the initiative to redevelop the community centre to ensure it can meet current and future population demands.

The redevelopment involved replacing and augmenting the existing facilities and modernising the centre to include a new 50 metre, ten-lane International Swimming Federation approved Olympic swimming pool, a 25-metre indoor learn-to-swim pool, and a 20-metre warm water pool. Additional amenities such as a gym and fitness centre, spa and sauna, a new reception, retail and management areas and a Swimming clubhouse were also part of the renewal.

Fredon was engaged to complete the facilities’ mechanical works, which included a central, dual-source heating plant system comprising both Heat Pumps and Hot Water Generators. This type of configuration will serve both the mechanical heating and pool water heating systems and provide the centre with year-round energy efficiency.

Waves Aquatic Centre was open to the public in September 2022.
