The Department of Health and Aged Care’s Yaradhang building in Woden ACT is named to reflect the purpose of the Department. Yaradhang means eucalyptus in Ngunnawal language, and Eucalyptus is a plant known for health purposes.

Fredon Electrical ACT was engaged to complete the demolition and installation of communications and MATV cabling, communications racks, patch panels and Fibre Optic Break Out Trays (FOBOTs) to facilitate the upgrade works and to meet current Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC) standards across levels 3 and 5.

The project involved:

• 79,337metres of Cat 6a – an average of 661 metres per day onsite
• 1,433 Cat 6a Outlets
• 4,031 metres of OM3
• 6x Class C SCEC Endorsed Racks

With a construction programme of 12 weeks per floor, the project was completed in April 2025.

The Department of Health, Disability & Ageing Yaradhang Building was recognised at the NECA ACT Excellence Awards in 2025, receiving the Voice/Data Communications & Audio Visuals Small Project award.
