580 George St Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade

Services: Design, Install

Client: 580 George

Location: Sydney CBD, NSW

580 George St is located in a prominent location in Sydney CBD. Fredon were engaged to carry out the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Electrical Infrastructure within the live, fully occupied commercial tower.

The project involved the end-to-end delivery of critical electrical infrastructure upgrades across multiple building levels, including the installation of new main switchboards, generator switchboards, and distribution boards. Works also included the replacement of consumer mains and submains, incorporating fire-rated cabling, riser reconfiguration, and carefully staged cutovers to ensure uninterrupted continuity of supply throughout the works.

In addition, the scope covered the upgrade and integration of essential power systems, including multiple ATS/MTS units, load shedding functionality, and standby power distribution. Diesel generator systems were refurbished and enhanced through PLC and HMI upgrades, permanent load bank integration for testing, and fuel oil system improvements. The project also implemented building-wide metering and remote energy monitoring systems, while decommissioning redundant switchboards, MIMS cabling, and obsolete infrastructure. All works were completed with full testing, commissioning, certification, and the delivery of comprehensive as-constructed documentation.

The 580 George St Electrical Infrastructure upgrade was successfully completed in March 2026.
